What Should You Bring to Your Bridal Appointment?

Booking your bridal appointment is an exciting milestone in your wedding planning journey—but many brides wonder how they can best prepare before walking through the door.

The good news? You don't need much! At Main Street Bridal, our goal is to make your experience fun, stress-free, and memorable.

Here are a few things we recommend bringing to help you get the most out of your appointment.

Inspiration Photos

Before your appointment, spend a little time saving photos of dresses you love. Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, and bridal websites are all great places to gather inspiration.

Don't worry if you're unsure of exactly what style you're looking for. Inspiration photos simply help your bridal consultant understand what details catch your eye, whether that's lace sleeves, clean satin, a dramatic train, or a classic ballgown silhouette.

And remember—sometimes the dress you end up loving is completely different from what you expected!

The Right People

One of the biggest factors in a successful bridal appointment is who you bring with you.

We recommend bringing a small group of trusted family members or friends who know you well and support your vision. Too many opinions can sometimes make the decision more difficult and overwhelming.

Choose the people who will celebrate with you, encourage you, and help you focus on what makes you feel beautiful.

An Open Mind

Many brides walk into their appointment convinced they know exactly what they want, only to fall in love with something completely unexpected.

Your bridal consultant may pull a few "wild card" gowns based on your preferences and body shape. We always encourage brides to try them on—you never know what might surprise you!

Keeping an open mind often leads to the most magical moments.

Nude Undergarments

While not required, nude-colored undergarments can be helpful when trying on wedding gowns, especially styles with fitted fabrics or lighter linings.

Most importantly, wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident.

A Realistic Budget

One of the most important things you can bring to your bridal appointment isn't something you carry—it's a realistic dress budget.

Before your appointment, take a few minutes to discuss what you're comfortable spending and who will be contributing to your gown purchase. Having a clear budget allows your bridal consultant to focus on gowns that fit both your vision and your investment range.

Many brides arrive with inspiration photos from Pinterest, Instagram, or TikTok without realizing that the gowns they're saving may be well outside their intended budget. While those photos are incredibly helpful for identifying styles and details you love, they don't always reflect what is available at every price point.

At Main Street Bridal, we use those inspiration photos as a guide to understand your vision, then help you find gowns that offer the look and details you love within your budget.

Our goal isn't just to help you find a dress you love—it's to help you find a dress you can confidently say "yes" to.

Being upfront about your budget from the beginning helps us spend your appointment finding realistic options rather than creating disappointment by falling in love with a gown that isn't attainable. The good news? Beautiful gowns exist at every price point, and helping brides discover them is one of our favorite parts of the job.

What You DON'T Need to Bring

You can leave the stress at home!

You don't need:

  • Professional shapewear

  • Wedding shoes

  • Jewelry

  • Makeup touch-up kits

  • Every opinion from your group chat

Most importantly, you don't need to have everything figured out before your appointment. Shapewear and jewelry are not needed for bridal appointments but could be helpful to get a full look.
